Our History

The Lincoln Heights Dollars for Scholars Chapter serves two high schools located in the Northeast Los Angeles community of Lincoln Heights: Sacred Heart (an all-girls Catholic school) and Lincoln High School, a public high school.

LH Dollars for Scholars was incorporated on June 30, 1988. Eleven volunteer board members serve as the chapter steering committee; since we have no paid staff, 95% of our budget is allocated for scholarships.

The Schools We Serve:

Abraham Lincoln High School, usually referred to as Lincoln High School, is a secondary school located in the Lincoln Heights community of Los Angeles.  The school, named after the 16th U.S. President, is one of the first public high schools established in California.  Lincoln is one of the District 5 high schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District.  The LAUSD is the second largest district in the nation.

Sacred Heart High School is a Roman Catholic high school for girls in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles.  The school, in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, has been administered by the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose since 1907.
